What is Ayurveda massage and what is useful for?

Ayurveda massage is a type of therapy that can range from a therapeutic massage to a relaxing, detoxifying and rejuvenating massage. It is a strong but gentle massage for the whole body in which rubbing is combined with yogic stretching, marma therapy and osteopathic manipulations depending on the patient.

Ayurveda treatments have their origin in India.

It is done with the hands mainly, being able to use the feet depending on the patient.

Oils are used that depending on the nature of the patient can be sesame, almond, coconut or olive oil. Calamus powder (sweet flag) is also used.

Calamus powder is a powerful detoxifier, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and exfoliator. Helps remove deep toxins found in the lymph and muscles.

Types of Ayurveda Massage

The benefits are various, some of the main ones being to reduce stress, eliminate toxins or even improve the flexibility of the body. However, it is important that you take into account the different types of Ayurvedic massages that you can find. Some of the most prominent are the following:

Abhyanga: It is, without a doubt, the most traditional massage. It consists of covering your entire body with oil and touching the most sensitive points, also known as marma points.

Champi: This type of treatment, on the other hand, is focused on the entire part of the skull, head, shoulders, arms or back with gentle movements. It is very effective to reduce headaches, or even to solve insomnia problems. It can also nourish the scalp.

Udvartana: Through dry powders, an attempt is made to reduce excess body fat by activating metabolism circulation through friction on the skin.

Pada: In the lower extremities, and especially in the soles of your feet, it works to release tension and stimulate the lymphatic system.
